Here is a quick tutorial on contour drawing. The bird sounds in the background are nice. The background commentary may put you to sleep, but necessary. Stay awake for 3:25. Then you'll know how to draw contour drawings.... Because she is drawing lines across the hand, we would technically call this a "cross-contour drawing." I think we'll go out when it gets nice to do a contour drawing.... of a tree. That would be cool. Then we can have the birds chirping in the background.

When drawing a line, make sure you give it some life. Straight lines even need a little spicing up. So, when drawing a line, let your hand press and lift off softly, like you're leading music... your lines will be dynamic, and your drawing will be far more interesting.
Want to learn your elements and principles? Here are a few examples. We'll always use these words to critique works of art. Next time you won't just say that piece of artwork is "cool" or "lame". You'll be able to back it up and explain why it's "cool" or "lame." It makes you sound smart and it's not all that hard to learn a few words and what they mean in the art world.
Just an example of value and how it can fool us. Guess what? Squares A and B are the exact same value. Don't believe me? Cover up all the other squares and leave just A and B showing. It'll blow your mind.
